🏢 Triad Developer Acquires Gastonia Site

A Gastonia site eyed for a multifamily project has been acquired by a developer from the Triad.

An entity affiliated with Wynnefield Properties bought a 25-acre site off West Hudson Boulevard for $1.6 million in November, according to Gaston County real estate records. It purchased the property from Usmani Holdings LLC.

Wynnefield went through a rezoning process in late 2022 to allow the development of 252 apartments at the site at 680 Lynhaven Drive. A residential development growth map compiled by the city shows the project, named The Lofts at Hudson, was approved for 252 units.

It is unclear if the developer's plans for the site have changed since the 2022 rezoning. Plans at the time had called for 54 one-bedroom, 156 two-bedroom and 42 three-bedroom units across eight three-story buildings, according to city documents.

Wynnefield sought the rezoning alongside that of a neighboring 19-acre site.

  • The neighboring site was being targeted for 164 age-restricted apartments.

  • That project, named The Reserve at Hudson, is listed as approved on the city's residential development growth map, which was updated in September 2024.

Wynnefield is based in Jamestown in the Triad area.
