The Gaston Business Association was proud to partner with Country First Academy to host the Civics & Commerce Workshop: An Introduction to Running for Office — a powerful and engaging program designed to bridge the gap between business, government, and community.
The afternoon brought together local leaders, professionals, and engaged citizens for meaningful conversation, practical training, and thoughtful dialogue about the important connection between civic leadership and commerce.
Through a series of panel discussions and a nonpartisan “Run for Office” candidate training, attendees gained valuable insight into how public service works, and how individuals can play a meaningful role in shaping Gaston County’s future.
What they're saying: We are grateful to our outstanding panelists for sharing their time and expertise:
Mayor Hayley Beatty, Town of Dallas
Ivory Craig, Council Member, City of Mount Holly
Demetrios Koutsoupias, Council Member, City of Gastonia
Martha Wegner, Duke Energy
Malissa Gordon, Elevra Lithium
The big picture: Workshops like this reinforce an important truth: when business leaders and community members engage in the civic process, Gaston County grows stronger.
