GBA BOARD MEMBER CHRIS ELMORE FOCUSES ON GRIT IN BUSINESS

Chris Elmore, Co-Founder of AvidXchange in Charlotte, spoke to students and fellow alumni of Gaston College last week. Elmore focused on his journey that brought him to Gaston College and how his experience helped perpetuate his now successful career.

Elmore recounts his childhood by stating he struggled with school.

• His goals were, however, to attend college and start his own business.
• After being told he would fail, Elmore’s father stepped in and assisted him in applying for Gaston College, to which he was accepted.
• After being told his first week of school at Gaston College that he was behind in reading, Elmore took this as a challenge.
• Chris Elmore successfully graduated from Gaston College with his Associate of History degree.

After graduation from GC, Elmore went on to earn his Bachelor of History Degree from UNC-Charlotte and his Masters of Theology from Summit Bible College.

Elmore attributes his success to being bound and determined to achieve his dreams. When he was told, “No,” he responded, “Good.” He told his listeners to “use that as fuel, and make it happen!”

Armed with 3 degrees, Elmore turned an initial career in sales into an extremely successful company with AvidXchange and serves on the Board of Directors for the Gaston Business Association and Gaston College Foundation.
